The Seema Malaka is a temple in the lake which is an unexpected design in the busy Colombo city. The old Seema Malaka temple was redesigned by Geoffrey Bawa in 1979 because the old design began to sink in the lake. The temple itself has a Bo tree and lots of Buddha’s statues and delicately carved kiosk on the two outer platforms of the temple. The lake is surrounded by pine trees which are the attractions of Pelicans and Cormorants.

Gangaramaya temple is situated few kilometers east from the Seema Malaka and has lots of ancient carved statues of Bahirawa, the gnomes who consider being the signs of prosperity and Lord Buddha’s statues. The temple has a museum which contains exhibits of ancient jewelry, gilt gifts, and some valuable ancient monuments which are open for any visitor interested at exploring new things.
